A Reddit and community strategy for AI visibility: why forums get cited, how to participate with disclosure, and why astroturfing backfires.
You'll be able to
- ✓Explain why Reddit and forum content shows up in AI answers
- ✓Participate in communities with disclosure and within their rules
- ✓Choose which communities are worth your time, including crawlability
- ✓Run a 90-day community plan without astroturfing
The short answer
Reddit and forums get cited because they hold first-hand experiences that engines treat as independent evidence. Google licensed Reddit data in 2024, and studies show Reddit among the most-cited domains. To earn mentions, answer questions genuinely, disclose your affiliation, follow each community's rules, and never astroturf with fake accounts. Spam gets removed, banned and screenshotted.
